James Oris, Ph.D.

Associate Provost for Research and Scholarship, Miami University

James Oris, Ph.D., is the associate provost for research and scholarship, dean of the graduate school and a professor of zoology at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. He is an environmental toxicologist with a primary interest in the fate, dynamics and toxicity of trace contaminants and multiple stressors in aquatic organisms. A past president of the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry in North America, Oris is currently a member of the National Research Council panel, “Human and Environmental Exposure Science in the 21st Century.” Oris holds a doctorate in environmental toxicology and fisheries and wildlife from Michigan State University and a bachelor’s degree in biology from Wittenberg University.
