Executive Director of OARnet Appointed to the Internet2 Board of Trustees

COLUMBUS, Ohio (Nov 25, 2014) — 

WASHINGTON and COLUMBUS, OH, Nov. 25, 2014—Pankaj Shah, executive director of the Ohio Academic Resources Network (OARnet) and the Ohio Supercomputer Center, has been appointed to serve on the Internet2 Board of Trustees as a network representative. Shah is serving the term of retired Board Member Joe Freddoso, former CEO of MCNC.

Internet2 is a member-driven technology and networking consortium founded and led by members from the research and education (R&E) communities, including OARnet. Internet2 operates the largest and fastest R&E network in the U.S. while also partnering with technology leaders to provide cloud, trust, identity and middleware services for higher education, government, and other public institutions.

The Internet2 Board of Trustees is responsible for the strategic direction, planning, and oversight of the organization. The Board includes four standing committees: the Executive Committee, Audit and Finance Committee, Nominations Committee, and Programs and Priorities Committee. Shah will serve on the Audit & Finance Committee.

“I have been associated with Internet2 and the broader R&E community since 2000.  It’s an honor to be selected to serve on the Internet2 Board of Trustees. I plan to uphold the duties appointed to me by the organization while sharing my experience and contributing my own input on the future of Internet2 and the community it serves,” Shah said.
