While Intisar Bashir may be relatively new to Client Services, she is an OARnet veteran, having worked in the Network Operations Center for 12 years before swtching to her current role as a Business Relationship Manager.
In our newest “Meet the Staff” post, Bashir talks about why she felt it was time for a change, what her position has allowed her to do, and what she enjoys doing in her limited free time.
Where did you grow up? Columbus/ATL, went to college in Western Massachusetts.
How long have you been with OARnet? Thirteen years in January.
What drew you to your current position? I worked in the Support Center for 12 years before transferring to the Client Service Group. I enjoyed my time in the NOC and learned a lot. I was looking for change, with my familiarity of our clients and network, I thought Client Services would be a good fit for me. I have enjoyed learning OARnet from a different perspective so far.
What’s the most rewarding part of your job? I was born and mostly raised in Columbus, OH, and since starting as a Relationship Manager I have visited and learned about parts of Ohio that I 1) Never knew existed and 2) Never would have thought to visit.
What do you like to do in your free time? I have three young children, and I am married, so I enjoy spending time with my family. I am also co-owner of a couple businesses that take up what time I have left over. Oh, and I love to travel and bake!
What’s something people would be surprised to learn about you? Hmm, I played three sports when I was in school: basketball, soccer and long distance running. Also, I don’t watch football, so I married a man that is a Wolverine!
